Ottis, Craig, Stan, and Richard participated in the US Islands contest over the Oct. 18, 2008 weekend from Goat Island in the middle of Smith Lake.
A couple of weeks prior to the contest weekend, Craig and Ottis took a kayak trip across Smith Lake to Goat Island to put it on the map in Amateur Radio World and qualify it for the contest weekend. It was a great afternoon out on the lake and a chance to pull out the portable emergency gear to setup in the ultimate self-efficiency setting.
There are a bunch of pictures in the photo gallery starting with the qualifying weekend and includes the contest weekend where they camped out in 40 degree weather.

Last night at Puggles, Felix was so precious during the prayer before snack time. Everyone sat down and the teacher was still getting things passed out when she said "let's say out blessing". Without hesitation, Felix folded his hands and said all of "God is great..." (both stanzas) then sang "God our Father". (By that time, the class has started singing too.)
This morning at breakfast I asked if he wanted to bless the food, or me. He said no, but closed his eyes while I prayed.
This morning Felix held up his spoon and said "if I break it in half it will be a fork". Later we talked about Daddy's big truck, Papa's trailer and Daddy moving all the firewood. Felix said "That's why Daddy's back hurts."
On the way to school, Felix said he needed brown then black paint. I asked why and he said to paint his little brother so he couldn't see him?!?! Then he asked for white and pink paint to paint him so he could see him again.

Felix and I visited the Dinosaur exhibit at the gardens today. The flowers were gorgeous! Praise God for the beauty of his wonderful creation.
Felix was able to outrun this dinosaur in the end. We enjoyed seeing all the others on display too.
